Obituary For Janet L. Floyd
Janet Lee Floyd, 58, of Gastonia, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of February 15, 2023 at Atrium Health Main, surrounded by family.
Janet was born on January 31, 1965, in Gastonia to the late Lonnie C. and Hopie Inez Setzer Floyd. Janet graduated from Hunter Huss High School in 1983 and shortly thereafter graduated from the CNA program at Gaston College.
With her mother’s spiritual guidance, Janet, from infancy, began studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. She made her personal dedication and was baptized in 1989 at the age of 24. Since then, Janet enjoyed speaking to others about Jehovah God’s kingdom promises for mankind.
Janet’s gentle and compassionate nature was evident as she lovingly cared for the residents of White Oak Manor and Allen’s Rest Home. She later worked as a sales associate for Walmart. There she continued to display a great, conscientious work ethic while making many friends along the way.
Janet loved the trips her family would take to the mountains. She loved observing nature and had a fondness for wildlife. She found pleasure in caring for her lawn and flower garden at home. Janet also did her part in keeping her neighborhood looking beautiful.
After working in her yard, Janet relaxed inside by watching her all-time favorite television show, Perry Mason. She also enjoyed watching Murder, She Wrote and all mysteries with strong female characters who were not helpless but able to firmly defend themselves. And it goes without saying that as a child born in the “60s”, that Motown was her favorite music!
Throughout Janet’s life she endured many different types of challenges. After being diagnosed with leukemia three years ago, what enabled Janet to navigate through it with a constant smile, a spirit of graciousness and thankfulness was her quiet inner strength and her faith in Jehovah God’s promise of the resurrection and the hope of eternal life on a paradise earth.
Janet was predeceased by both of her parents and a nephew; Reginald Floyd, Jr.She is survived by her brother, Reverend Reginald L. (Dianne) Floyd, Sr.; two sisters, Valerie Floyd and Lo-Wanda (Ledell) Wilson; two nephews, Lonnie G. Floyd and Preston Lindsay; a niece, Natasha Hope Lindsay; four great nephews, Christopher Williams, Lonnie C.
